Kishore undergoes ear surgery
Formerly incarcerated cartoonist Ahmed Kabir Kishore underwent surgery today for the wound in his right ear.
His brother Ahsan Kabir informed The Daily Star, that Kishore is currently recovering in post-operative.
The surgery was conducted at a hospital this afternoon.
"A machine has been set in his ear through the surgery. The next course of action will be decided as per the physicians," Ahsan said.
The surgery was conducted as Kishore's diabetes is now somewhat under control, he said.
Kishore was taken to the operation theatre around 12:20pm and after the 'Tympanic Membrane Repair Myringoplasty' surgery in his right ear, he was taken back to the cabin at 1:45pm, Ahsan said.
He sought blessing from all for Kishore's quick recovery.
Kishore had gone to court on March 10 and told the court that he was tortured in custody, after being picked up by unidentified personnel in May last year.
"At one stage of the interrogation, one of the men got up and slapped me on my ear so hard that I lost consciousness for a while," Kishore said in a statement submitted to court, adding that soon after he felt blood coming out of his ear.
"I am still recovering from the torture, my ear is still seeping, I cannot walk ...." he had said.
Kishore was released from prison on March 4, after being granted bail in a Digital Security Act case that was filed against him and ten others last year in May.
