House tutor held for raping college student in Sirajganj: police

Police arrested a house tutor after a case was filed against him on charge of raping a college student in Sirajganj's Tarash upazila Thursday night.

The arrestee -- Md Abu Sayeed (35) -- is undergoing treatment in Sirajganj General Hospital under police custody as he was beaten up by locals soon after the incident, police said. 

Quoting the victim's family members, Officer-in-charge of Tarash Police Station Fazle Ashik said Sayeed went to the victim's house on Thursday night and raped the girl when she was home alone.

Hearing shouts of the victim, locals rushed the spot and beat him up mercilessly. He was later admitted to the 250-bed Sirajganj General Hospital where he is undergoing treatment.

The victim's father filed the case accusing the house tutor yesterday afternoon. Police later arrested him from the hospital, the OC added.

The victim was taken to Sirajganj General hospital for medical examination today, the OC added.
