Star Digital Report

A three-member probe committee has been formed to investigate yesterday's mayhem by Qawmi madrasa-based organisation Hefajat-e-Islam in Brahmanbaria.

The committee, formed with Additional Deputy Inspector General of Police (Chattogram Range) Zakir Hossain as its chief, has been asked to submit its report within seven working days.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (Chattogram Range) Md Anwar Hossain disclosed this to reporters when he went to Brahmanbaria this morning to visit the establishments damaged during Hefajat activists' attacks.

Cases will be filed for each and every attack, the police official said.

He visited Brahmanbaria Railway Station, Ustad Alauddin Khan Music Academy, press club, municipality office and other places of Brahmanbaria that came under the attack by Hefajat men during yesterday's dawn-to-dusk hartal enforced by them.

During yesterday's violence, at least three people were killed in the district, taking the toll of the violence that began with protests against the Indian prime minister's visit to 13.
