Over 400 people have been sued in a case filed over attacking police, vandalising their van, and torching two motorcycles in Habiganj's Ajmeriganj upazila.

Sub-inspector of Ajmeriganj Police Station, Jayonto Talukder, filed the case with the police station this morning, said Officer-in-charge Md Nurul Islam.

Names of at least 23 accused have been mentioned in the case, the OC said.

No accused has been arrested so far, our Moulvibazar correspondent reports quoting the police officer.

Abu Hanif, OC (investigation) of the police station, said 30 people, including five policemen, were injured during clashes between law enforcers and Hefajat supporters in the Jhingri area on Ajmeriganj-Baniachang road yesterday.

The clash occurred when Hefajat activists put barricades on the road and were resisted by police. At one stage, they attacked police with locally made weapons.

They vandalised a police van and torched two motorcycles during the clashes, OC Abu Hanif said.

Police had to fire 33 rounds of rubber bullets to disperse the attackers.
