‘Hallmark GM meeting woman in prison official's cabin’: Jail super, jailer withdrawn
Senior jail super Ratna Roy and jailer Nur Mohammad Mridha were withdrawn from Kashipur Central Jail-1 in connection with allowing a prisoner to meet a woman in a prison official's cabin on January 6.
"The two official were withdrawn for the sake of investigation. Further steps to be taken upon receiving investigation reports of the probe bodies," Brig Gen Mominur Rahman Mamun, inspector general of prisons, told The Daily Star.
Earlier, deputy jailer Md Saklain and two prison guards were withdrawn in connection with providing the special treatment to Hallmark Group's GM Tushar Ahmed in violation of the prison manual.
Tushar, brother-in-law of Hallmark MD Tanvir Mahmud, allegedly met a woman in the cabin of a prison official on January 6.
The woman was allegedly escorted to the jail official's cabin by Saklain and two others.
Senior jail superintendent Ratna Roy was also present in the official's room at the time.
Gazipur district administration sources said that a committee was formed on January 12 to probe the role of the officials concerned.
Another investigation panel was formed on January 21, with Additional Inspector General of Prisons Col Abrar Hossain as its head.
