Child’s body found in neighbour’s house in Kurigram
Police have recovered the body of a three-year-old from a house in Roumari upazila of Kurigram last night, hours after he went missing.
The deceased was identified as Hossain Safi, son of Zahidul Islam in Jhagrachar village of the upazila, said police and locals.
A 15-year-old boy was detained last night over the incident and taken into police custody for interrogation, said Montaser Billah, officer-in-charge (OC) of Roumari Police Station today.
The body was found in a sack at the house of Azizul Haque, a neighbour of the victim, in Jhagrachar area around 11pm, based on information given by the detainee, said the OC.
The body was sent to Kurigram General Hospital morgue for autopsy, our Lalmonirhat correspondent reports, quoting the OC.
Jahangir Alam, an uncle of the deceased, said Safi went missing yesterday afternoon. A general diary was lodged with the police station around 9 pm last night as after hours of searching, they could not find the child anywhere.
OC Montaser further said the detained teenager is being questioned. However, no case was filed in this connection till filing this report around 6:00pm.
