Bidyanondo volunteers attacked while distributing food in Dhaka’s Kalshi area
At least four volunteers of Bidyanondo Foundation were injured as miscreants attacked them while they were distributing food among children in Dhaka's Kalshi area this afternoon.
The injured are: Biplob Hossain, Fatema, Ashraful and Shahidul.
They were rushed to Shaheed Suhrawardi Medical College Hospital for treatment, Salman Khan, head of communication of the foundation told The Daily Star.
Salman said they were distributing food among children like every day under the foundation's programme 'Ek Takay Ahar' at Kashli area when four to five youths arrived and demanded food.
"As we said these are for children, they misbehaved with us and at one stage, they attacked us, getting up on our pickup van.
Some of them attacked our female colleagues and snatched Tk 5,000 and a mobile phone," he said.
The volunteers captured one of them, primarily identified as Shahidul, 21, while the rest fled, Salman said. Filing of a case in this regard with Pallabi Police Station is underway.
