‘Attack on advocate’: Naogaon lawyers continue strike for 4th day

Star Online Report

Naogaon lawyers are continuing strike for the fourth consecutive day today protesting alleged assault on one of their fellows by members of police.

Four police officials were closed and attached to Naogaon Police Lines following the incident, reports our Natore correspondent quoting Abdul Mannan Mia, superintendent of Naogaon Police.

Service seekers at the court ground were suffering due to the strike. "We have talked with the lawyers, they have assured us they will start working again from Sunday," the SP said.

A three-member probe body was also formed to look into the matter of alleged assault, he added.

On Monday, Advocate Abu Sayeed Murad was allegedly beaten by 10-15 police officials who were on duty in front of Bar Association in the area. Police also allegedly attacked and pointed their rifle at the other lawyers who went to rescue Murad.
