7-year-old raped in Jhenaidah, UP chairman himself allegedly conducted inappropriate test
A-seven-year-old was raped in Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah and to determine whether she was raped, a union parishad chairman conducted an inappropriate "rape test" on the victim, the child's mother alleged.
Talking to reporters, the victim's mother said a neigbour, a 27-year-old man, took her daughter to his house around 2:00pm on Thursday and raped her.
"I found her bleeding after she returned home crying," said the mother.
When she along with her daughter went to the office of Rakhalgachi Union Parishad to inform the UP chairman Mohidul Islam Monto, the latter conducted a "test" on the child by inappropriately touching her and said "nothing happened", she said.
The victim's mother also said she could not take her daughter to a hospital for lack of money.
Talking to our local correspondent, UP chairman Mohidul Islam Monto said on Thursday, the child and her mother came to his office. He assured them of assistance in legal action.
The chairman also denied the allegation of touching the victim inappropriately.
Mahfuzur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Kaliganj Police Station, said nobody has filed a complaint at the police station. If the victim's family is afraid then police will file the case. The accused will not be spared, he added.
