7 cases filed so far over Hefajat mayhem in Brahmanbaria
Seven cases have been filed so far in connection with the mayhem carried out by Hefajat-e Islam in Brahmanbaria from Friday.
More than 8,000 unidentified people have been made accused in the cases, our local correspondent reports.
However, there was no name of any known Hefajat activist in the cases.
The families of the deceased who were killed during the clashes in the district did not file any complaint till today, said Brahmanbaria Sadar Police Station Office-In-Charge Md Abdur Rahim.
The OC confirmed that five cases were filed with the Sadar Police Station.
Of them, three separate cases were filed in connection with the attack, vandalising and torching the office of the district's superintendent of police and a police outpost on Friday, he said.
In the three cases, total 6,500 unknown people were made accused and 14 people were detained in this connection, he added.
He also said a case was filed over the attack on the district's Ansar and VDP office.
Besides, another case was filed by the registrar of University of Brahmanbaria. More than 500 people were made accused in the two cases, the OC added.
Ashuganj Police Station OC Jabed Mahmud said police and toll plaza authorities filed two more separate cases for the attack and torching of toll plaza and its adjacent police outpost.
In the cases, around 1,200 unknown people were accused, the OC said.
