60-year-old held in connection with rape of teenager in Jashore

Police have arrested a 60-year-old man in connection with the rape of a teenager in Jashore's Jhikargachha upazila.

Accused Nur Islam Gazi (60), is a resident of Harergati village of the upazila, reports our Benapole correspondent quoting Inspector (Investigation) Mejbahuddin of the police facility.

The victim's father filed a case with the police station in this connection this morning.

According to the case statement, Nur Islam Ghazi lured the girl with chocolates and took her to a jackfruit orchard near his house and raped her there.

Since then, he raped the girl several times and threatened her of dire consequences if she revealed the matter, stated the case document.

The girl eventually disclosed the matter to her family members, added the police personnel.
