4 criminals held in Jhenidah for kidnapping two college students from Khulna

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) claimed to have detained four members of a terrorist group from Jhenidah early today for kidnapping two college students from Khulna.

The detainees are Likhon Bishwas (26), Miraz Laskar (20), Tuhin Bishwas (23) and Ripon Bishwas (22), said a press release signed by Company Commander Md Kamal Uddin of Rab-6 sent to media this noon.

In the press release, Kamal Uddin said the four criminals kidnapped Jarin Yesmin, a student of Khulna Military Collegiate School and her friend Shamim Ahmed, a student of Navy School and College, from Khulna on January 23 and demanded Tk one lakh from the families as ransom.

Following the complaint lodged by the victims' families, Rab launched a drive from Arappur and Mujib Chattar area in the early hours today and arrested the four. They also rescued the two victims, said the release.

A case was filed against the criminals with Jhenidah Sadar Police Station today in this connection, added the press release.
