A Panchagarh court sent two policemen to jail in a case filed for trespassing into India without passport.

Chief Judicial Magistrate of Panchagarh Humayun Kabir passed the order this afternoon after police produced them before the court.

The accused are Mosharaf Hossain, an assistant sub-inspector and Omar Farukh, a constable of Panchagarh Police lines.

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) handed over Constable Omar, held from Ghagra border in Panchagarh Sadar upazila, to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) yesterday evening.

He was handed over to BGB through a flag meeting between BSF and BGB members yesterday, around 22 hours after he was detained on Sunday night.

Earlier, this morning, Sub-inspector Mostafijur Rahman filed a case with Panchagarh Police Station accusing four, including Mosharaf Hossain, Omar Faruk and two civilians -- Masud Rana and Amirul Islam of Panchagarh sadar upazila -- under a section of passport law.

According to the case statement, four people, including Omar Faruk, Mosharaf and Masud had an altercation with a group of Indian nationals near the border around 8:30pm on Sunday night.

Later, police recovered Omar Faruk's motorcycle from a bazar near the border, said Jamal Hossain, Inspector (investigation) of Panchagarh Sadar Police Station.
