Case filed over UP member 'attacking' local Hindu leader’s house in Pabna
A union parishad member and his men have allegedly attacked the family and vandalised the house of a local Hindu leader in Pabna's Sathiya upazila.
The victim filed a case with Sathiya Police Station yesterday in this regard accusing Md Ali Munshi, member of ward-8 of Karamja union, reports our local correspondent quoting Asif Md Siddikul Islam, officer-in-charge of the station.
Bimol Rajbongshi, a leader of the fishermen community in Borogram area, filed the case against 27 people including UP member Munshi, the OC said.
Munshi has been absconding since the case was filed, he added.
According to the case statement, Munshi and his men attacked Bimol's house and beat up his family members on Friday due to political enmity. They also threatened they will expel the victims from the country.
Bimol had recently declared that he will contest for the post of general secretary in the upcoming Awami League conference of the ward. Angered by the decision, Munshi attacked his house, Bimol said in the statement.
Local police have ramped up security in the area to protect the Hindu families there, the OC added.
