Court rejects request of Sinha’s sister to include Cox’s Bazar SP as accused

Sister of Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan sought to make police superintendent (SP) of Cox's Bazar an accused in the case filed following his murder, but the court today denied her request.

Sinha's elder sister Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous went to the Senior Judicial Magistrate Tamanna Farah yesterday afternoon to make the request, the complainant's lawyer Mohammed Mostofa said.

"SP ABM Masud Hossain had multiple conversations with the accused before and after the murder, and there is a possibility that he may have assisted them. That is why we are seeking to include him as an accused in the case," said Mostofa.

Sharmin spoke to reporters in front of the court and said, "I believe I can get justice only if SP Masud is investigated as part of the case."

However, the request was denied, Advocate Faridul Alam, public prosecutor of Cox's Bazar District Judge Court, informed our correspondent.

The case was filed on August 5, five days after Sinha was killed in an encounter with Teknaf police.
