Relief items distribution among 800 families in Brahmanbaria begins
Distribution of relief materials among an additional 800 needy families at Akhaura in Brahmanbaria has started, amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
Law Minister Anisul Huq has personally financed the food items, which are being distributed among the poor and destitute, including beggars, hawkers, day labours, rickshaw pullers, auto-rickshaw drivers, domestic helps, gypsies, night guards through the local Awami League leaders and activist, said law ministry sources.
Every family is being given 10 kilograms of rice, a litre of oil, two kg of potatoes, two kg mosur dal, one kg salt and a soap.
The relief distribution began on Sunday night through separate committees at pourasavas, unions and wards in Akhaur, the electoral constituency of the law minister.
Earlier last week, similar relief goods were distributed among 400 poor and helpless families in the same area at his own expense.
The law minister himself is monitoring the relief distribution activities.
Besides, the minister is sending relief materials to the poor if they seek help over the phone to him, sources added.
