College student killed in Pabna

A college student was hacked, and later died in Pabna General Hospital yesterday evening.

The victim -- Md Jewel Rana Akash, 20, son of Sujon Miah of village Mondolpara in Pabna Sadar upazila -- was a student of Pabna Technical School and College, our local correspondent reports, quoting police.

Upon receiving a call on his mobile in the morning, he went out, said Md Nasim Ahmed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Pabna Sadar Police Station, quoting family members.

Hacked with sharped weapons, he was rescued from a field of Sadhupara sluice gate area in the noon and sent to Pabna General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries in the evening, the OC said.

The victim might have been killed over the previous enmity and police is investigating into the matter to find the killers, the police official said.

A case was filed in this regard, he added.
