No army deployment in upcoming local elections: CEC

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda today said the Election Commission does not have any plan to deploy army at the voting stations during the upcoming by-polls and Comilla City Corporation elections.

"We will keep the army ready, but still there is no plan to deploy them in the upcoming Gaibandha-1, Sunamganj-2 by-polls and Comilla City Corporation election," the CEC said while talking to reporters after a meeting at the EC secretariat.

Earlier in the day, Nurul Huda held a meeting on the security measure in the upcoming three elections.

High officials of the law enforcement agencies and secretaries of the ministries concerned were present during the meeting.
