Youth stabbed dead

An elderly man was stabbed to death by a youth on the platform of Mohanganj Railway Station on Tuesday.

Police said one Ejim Uddin, 35, of Golapganj upazila in Sylhet, stabbed Badal Biswas, 60, a resident of Sunamganj district, with a sharp weapon while the latter was waiting for the Sunamganj-bound train around 2:30pm, leaving him seriously injured.

Locals rescued Badal and took him to Mohanganj Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared him dead, Officer-in-Charge Mezbah Uddin of Mohanganj Police Station said.

Meanwhile, villagers caught Ejim from the spot and handed him over to the police, the OC added.
