Youth, schoolboy beaten to death in Kushtia, Narsingdi

A young man and a schoolboy were beaten to death in Bheramara upazila of Kushtia and in Narsingdi town yesterday and the day before.

In Kushtia, police recovered the body of a youth from Islampur area of Bheramara upazila yesterday, reports our correspondent.

The dead was identified as Zinnat Ali, 26, son of Fazlul Haq of the area. He was a day labourer.

Nur Hossain Khondokar, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bheramara Police Station, said locals found Zinnat's body on a farmland and informed them. Police recovered the body at around 1:30am.

Police, quoting family members of the victim, said Zinnat had a quarrel with neighbour Bablu over allegation of an extramarital affair between his wife Sabina and Bablu.

Zinnat went out of his house on Tuesday and did not return. He was beaten to death, the OC said.

Police are trying to find the killers, he added.

In Narsingdi, a schoolboy was beaten to death allegedly by two classmates over previous enmity at Khalpar in the district town on Tuesday afternoon, reports a correspondent.

The deceased was identified as Parvez Miah, 13, son of Sattar Miah of Bilasdi in the district town. He was a Class VII student in Narsingdi Ideal High School.

Golam Mostafa, officer-in-charge of Narsingdi Police Station, said Parvez and his friend Nurul Amin, 13, also from Bilasdi, went out of their school during tiffin hour.

At that time, two of their classmates --Ariful Islam and Ruman Miah--took Parvez and Nurul to Khalpar and mercilessly beat the duo with a cricket bat, leaving them seriously injured.

On information, some teachers of the school rushed to the spot and took them to Narsingdi General Hospital, where doctors referred them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Parvez succumbed to his injuries on the way to the DMCH around 3:00pm, the OC added.

Victim's father Sattar Miah filed a case with Narsingdi Police Station in connection with the incident.
