Youth held on rape charge

Police on Friday arrested a youth on charge of raping a six-year-old girl at Nandagaon village in Haripur upazila of the district. The arrestee is Altaf Hossain, 18, son of Asgar Ali of the village. Police said Altaf raped the girl when she was alone at her house at the village on Thursday afternoon. Later, the victim's father filed a rape case, accusing three people including Altaf, said Akhtaruzzaman Prodhan, officer-in-charge of Haripur Police Station. Police also arrested Altaf's mother Akhtara Begum, 40, on charge of threatening the victim's family not to lodge any case in this regard, said the OC.
