Youth gets life in abduction case

A Bogra court yesterday sentenced a youth to life imprisonment in a case for kidnapping a college girl.The convict is Abu Zafar, 32, son of Mojahar Hossain of Bogarpara area in Sadar upazila. Judge Saiful Islam of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-pronounced the verdict in the afternoon. According to the case statement, Zafar abducted the girl on her way to the college on February 27, 2009 and confined her to a house in the area. Following a case filed by the victim's father on February 29, police arrested Zafar and rescued the girl on May 10. After investigation, police pressed charges against Zafar.
