Youth arrested for raping fourth-grader in Lalmonirhat

A youth was arrested last night for raping a fourth-grade student in Hatibandha upazila of Lalmonirhat.

The arrestee Alamgir Hossain (22), an electrician, is a resident of Councilpara in the upazila, our local correspondent reports.

The arrest was made following a complaint filed by the victim's grandmother, said Omar Faruk, officer-in-charge of Hatibandha Police Station.

The arrestee will be produced before a court today, police said.

The 10-year-old was admitted to Hatibandha Upazila Health Complex yesterday afternoon, the OC said.

Dr Al Mamun, resident medical officer of the health complex, said the victim who has been suffering from bleeding would be sent to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital.

After the arrest, the child's grandmother lodged a case with Hatibandha Police Station accusing Alamgir last night.
