Writ petition seeks probe into Sylhet man's death in ‘police custody’
A writ petition was filed with the High Court today seeking directives to investigate the incident where a man was allegedly tortured to death in Sylhet's Bandarbazar police outpost.
Supreme Court lawyer and also a resident of Sylhet, Syed Fazle Elahi, filed the writ petition with a newspaper report attachment.
The secretary to the home ministry, inspector general of police, Sylhet police commissioner, Sylhet deputy commissioner, and Sylhet SP have been made respondents.
The HC bench of Justice Md Mozibur Rahman Miah and Justice Mohi Uddin Shamim are likely to hear the petition.
