Woman held for beating widow

Police arrested a woman in a case for beating her daughter-in-law at Bhaularhat Podompur village in Sadar upazila yesterday. The arrestee is Nur Jahan Begum, mother-in-law of Parul Akhter of the village. Victim Parul filed the case, accusing Nur Jahan Begum, her sons Jahangir Alam, 27, his wife Runa Akhter, 25, Rafiqul Islam Labu, 25, and his wife Mim, 23. The 23-year-old widow, who was beaten up mercilessly by her in-laws on Wednesday, is still groaning with pain at Sadar Hospital.
