Woman gang-raped, 2 Ansar members violated by colleague

Criminals gang-raped the wife of an expatriate in Nabiganj upazila of Habiganj on Wednesday night, while two female Ansar personnel were raped allegedly by their colleague in Birganj upazila of Dinajpur on Tuesday.

Our Moulvibazar correspondent reports that Rubel Mia, 32, of Tunakandi village in Nabiganj upazila of Habiganj, and his friends raped the wife of an expatriate on Wednsday.

The victim filed a case with Nabiganj Police Station yesterday, accusing Rubel, Shah Alam and one unnamed man, said Abdul Baten, officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station.

According to the case statement, Rubel and his friends used to stalk the victim's neice on her way to and from school. He also asked her to have illicit relations with him, which she refused.

As the victim sought intervention of the village elders to stop the menace, Rubel and his friends got angry.

They forcibly entered the victim's house, tied up her relatives and raped her, locals said.

Relatives admitted the seriously injured housewife to Habiganj Sadar Hospital, said Resident Medical Officer Md Mohsin Kabir.

Two Ansar women, who were on duty at a Durga temple in Birganj upazila of Dinajpur, were raped allegedly by their colleague at their makeshift lodging near the temple on Tuesday, reports our Dinajpur correspondent.

The alleged rapist, Taposh Chandra Roy, 45, son of late Upendranath Roy of Aradi Chowpukuria village in the upazila, went into hiding after the incident, police said.

The victims -- one 27 years old, and the other, 45, hail from the upazila.

Police sent them to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital (DjMCH) for medical test yesterday after one of them filed a rape case with the Birganj Police Station, accusing Taposh Chandra Roy, with the Birganj Police Station, said Officer-in-Charge Md Akkas Ali.
