Weakened depression crossing Ctg coast

The deep depression that formed over the Bay of Bengal weakened into a depression and started to cross Chittagong coast this morning, according to the met office website.

The depression is likely to move in a north-northeasterly direction further and may complete crossing the coast during next three to four hours and weaken gradually by causing precipitation, according to the 6:00am bulletin of the met office.

Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to lower local warning signal no. four and hoist local cautionary signal no. three (r) three.

Under the influence of the depression the southeastern part of Bangladesh is experiencing gusty winds with heavy falls.

Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at most places over  Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rangpur division with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over Southern part of the country, the weather forecast bulletin said.

All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to come close to the coast, remain in shelter and proceed with caution till further notice.

Coastal districts of Cox's Bazar, Chittagong, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Feni, Borguna, Patuakhali, Barisal, Bhola, Chandpur and their offshore islands and chars are likely to experience wind speed up to 40-50 kph in gusts and squalls with heavy falls during the passage of the depression.
