UZ chairman lands in jail

A court here yesterday sent Md Nazrul Islam Khan, chairman of Nazirpur Upazila Parishad, and a BNP man to jail, rejecting their bail prayers in a Jubo League activist killing case. The court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Abu Baker Siddique passed the order when Nazrul, also the senior vice president of the district unit of BNP, and its activist Ujjal appeared before the court. On October 1 in 2014, Jubo League activist Md Ilias Ali of Kalatala village in the upazila was seriously injured in an attack by opposition men. He later died at Khulna Medical College Hospital. Later, a murder case was filed with Nazirpur Police Station in this connection, said court sources.
