UNO apologises to 3 elderly men humiliated by assistant commissioner in Jashore

On behalf of the administration, upazila nirbarhi officer of Manirampur today apologised to the three elderly persons who were humiliated by the assistant commissioner (Land) of the upazila in Jashore on Friday.

He, along with other officials of the local administration, went to the homes of the elderly at Chinetola area around noon and handed over some groceries to them, Ahsan Ullah Sharifi, UNO, told The Daily Star.

"We tried to stand by them as relatives do in such situations and said sorry on behalf of the administration," he said. "We have asked them to stay home and will provide them daily essentials whenever needed," he added.

Besides, they are supposed to get new homes as per the prime minister's directive to provide homes to all homeless during 'Mujib Borsho', he said. "And in their area, we will build their homes first," he added. "I think they have accepted our apolog."
