University student killed in Patuakhali road accident

A private university student has died in a road accident at Baufal upazila in Patuakhali.

The deceased was identified as Tanjil Ahmed (22), a first year student of European University in Dhaka, hailing from Collegepara area of Baufal municipality, reports our correspondent quoting Abdul Latif Khan, mayor of Baufal municipality.

He was the only son of police officer Mozammel Hossain, said the mayor.

He died at 10:00pm yesterday at Neurosciences Hospital in Dhaka where he was undergoing treatment, according to family members.

Family sources said, Tanjil with his two friends Sanim (23) and Md Qaiyum (22) were returning home from Karpurkathi area by a motorbike on Friday night.

Tanjil's bike abruptly hit a speed-breaker at T&T area of Kalaiya-Baufal road leaving all three friends injured, according to the mayor.

Locals rescued them and admitted them to Baufal Upazila Health Complex from where all three were rushed to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, the mayor said, adding that Tanjil was referred to Dhaka's Neurosciences Hospital as his condition deteriorated.
