Two jailed for child marriage
A mobile court here on Monday sentenced two women to one month's imprisonment each for arranging marriage of a Class VIII girl student at Bawalkar village in Sadar upazila. On secret information, Ibrahim, upazila nirbahi officer, with a team of police raided the house of the girl at the village in the afternoon, when her marriage was set to be solemnised. Then the family members concealed the girl. Later, police detained the bride's two aunts -- Pakhi and Sakhina. They were later produced in the court, led by the UNO, which punished them.
