Two die after being run over by truck in Rangpur

Two people were killed when a truck ran over them on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway in Rangpur this afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Shimul (28) and Sohel Rana (30) of Rangpur city, our local correspondent reports.

According to witnesses, Shimul and Sohel's motorcycle was hit by a microbus around 3:00pm, causing them to fall off the bike.

A stone-laden truck then ran over the two, leaving them dead on the spot, witnesses said.

Confirming the accident, Akhtaruzzaman Pradhan, officer-in-charge of Tajhat Police Station, said the truck driver Ansar Ali (55) was detained.

The bodies were sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
