Train derailment: Sylhet’s rail link with rest of country restored after 27 hours

Star Online Report

Rail communication between Sylhet and the rest of the country has been restored after 27 hours of suspension following a train derailment in Fenchuganj upazila yesterday.

The rail communication was restored at 3:00am today, our Sylhet correspondent reports quoting Sylhet Railway Station Manager Khalilur Rahman.

Soon after the train service resumed, Dhaka-bound Upaban Express left Sylhet Station, the station manager said.

Kalni Express also left the station for Dhaka on time this morning, he added.

The rail link was suspended following the derailment of 10 oil-tankers of a train, damaging 200 metres of track.

A five-member committee, headed by Railway's Divisional Transport Officer Khairul Islam, was formed to investigate the cause of the derailment.
