Torture and death at correction centre: BNWLA wants judicial inquiry

Star Online Report

Expressing concern over the deaths of three boys at the Jashore Correction Centre, Bangladesh National Women Lawyers Association (BNWLA) has demanded a separate judicial inquiry into the matter.

The association has also termed the killings inhumane and said authorities of the correction centre had earlier claimed that the three youths were killed as a result of a clash between two youth groups. But it was much later that the issue of torture came to light, a press release of the organisation said.

In order to ensure psychosocial counselling, safety and security of the children living in the centre, BNWLA also demanded the formation of a special committee comprising members of other organisations.
