Teenager raped in Lalmonirhat

A student of class ten was forcibly picked up and raped on her way home from tuition this morning in Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat, police said.

The alleged rapist Mashiur Rahman (27) obstructed the girl around 8am in Chandrapur village and forcibly took her into a roadside bamboo grove where he raped her, reports our correspondent quoting Kaliganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Arju Md Sajjad Hossain.

Locals arrived after hearing the girl's cries for help, but the rapist managed to escape before that, the OC added.

The girl's father filed a case with Kaliganj Police Station in this regard this afternoon.

She was sent to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital for medical examination, the OC said, adding that they are conducting drives to arrest the culprit as soon as possible.
