Teachers, students worried as school under erosion threat

Char Godagari Government Primary School in Sariakandi upazila of the district is now under threat of erosion by the River Bangalee, much to the worry of teachers, students and guardians.

The river continued devouring croplands, homesteads, a portion of the school and other structures, causing panic among more than 3000 people of Char Godagari village in the upazila.

Despite repeated pleas, the authorities are yet to take any remarkable steps to stop the erosion, alleged locals.

Suman, Priya, and Mrinal, students of the school, said their guardians dare not sending them to the brick-built school as cracks developed in the building.

Although the students are attending their classes amid risk of accidents, local Water Development Board (WDB) kept mum in this regard, said Mahafuzur Rahman, headmaster of the school.

Contacted, Bogra WDB Executive Engineer Ruhul Amin said they already started working to save the school from the erosion.
