Teacher held for sexually harassing female student

Police on Tuesday arrested a college teacher on charge of sexually harassing a female student in Kalihati upazila.

The arrestee is Wazed Ali Khan, 50, an assistant professor of social welfare department of Kalihati College.

Mohammad Akhteruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Kalihati Police Station, said Wazed allegedly sexually harassed a female student of the college on mobile phone.

Following a complaint filed by the victim's father, they arrested the teacher on August 10, said the OC.

Later, Principal Abdur Rahim along with two other teachers of the college released the arrestee from police giving an undertaking.

Police, however, arrested Wazed on Tuesday night amid student protest.
