Teacher gets life for raping girl

A Tangail court yesterday sentenced a house tutor to life imprisonment for raping a 10-year-old schoolgirl in Bhuapur upazila in 2010.

The convict is Tofazzal Hossain Hira, 29, of Falda Dakkhinpara area in the upazila, also a teacher of Falda Childcare Home.

Judge Sharif Uddin Ahmed of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal also fined the convict Tk 20,000. In default, he is to suffer six months more in jail.

According to the prosecution, on March 1, Tofazzal, a house tutor, called the victim girl, also a Class IV student, at his residence and raped her there.
