A court here yesterday placed Sabuj Hossain, 32, a tenant of the slain Sunil Gomez, on a two-day remand in connection with the killing of the Christian grocer in Baraigram upazila on June 5.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Shamsul Al Amin passed the order after Officer-in-Charge Abdul Hai of Natore Detective Branch (DB) of Police produced Sabuj before the court with a five-day remand prayer.

Unidentified criminals hacked Sunil Gomez, 60, with machetes inside his shop at Bonpara Christian Palli. He died on the spot.

Law enforcers picked up Sunil's tenant Sabuj from his rented house around 5:00pm the same evening, suspecting his involvement with the murder, the Natore Superintendent of Police Shyamol Kumar Mukharjee said.
