Judge Mohammad Shorfuddin Ahmed of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal in Tangail handed down the verdict.

According to the prosecution, Abul married Khodeja Begum, 20, daughter of Dudu Miah of nearby Karatia College Para village in Sadar upazila, in June 1996. Just after marriage, Khodeja was informed that her husband Abul had another wife.
