Six arrested on charges of raping and filming the scene in Jashore

Police have arrested six people in connection with raping a woman and filming the scene in Jashore's Monirampur upazila.

The arrestees were held from different areas of the upazila early today after the victim filed a case under the Pornography Act with Monirampur Police Station last night, said Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Monirampur Police Station, today.

The arrestees are: Mostafa Kamal Mosto (35), Faisal Hossain (22), Abdul Ali Sheikh (30), Asadul Gazi (28), Shakib Hossain (22), and Nazma Khatun (40).

Shakib was arrested for raping the woman while four others -- Mostafa, Faisal, Abdul Ali and Asadul --were arrested for recording the scene on their mobile phones and Nazma was arrested for assisting the rapist, said the OC.

The victim did not file any rape case in this connection, said Rafiqul Islam.

The six arrestees were sent to jail by a Jashore court this afternoon, our Benapole correspondent reports quoting the police official.

According to the case statement, when the woman went to a local market yesterday afternoon, Shakib called her and took her to a house rented by Nazma in Taherpur area and raped her there.

Mosto, Faisal, Asadul and Abdul captured the incident on their mobile phones and sent the video to the woman's husband' family, the case statement added.

The woman filed the case last night.
