Sinha wanted to stage judicial coup: Law minister
Law Minister Anisul Huq today said former Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha intended to stage a “judicial coup”.
“Two to two and a half years’ time was wasted and many development works were also hindered in tackling his attempt of the coup,” Anisul Huq said this afternoon.
He was addressing a coordination meeting with the officials of legislative and parliamentary affairs division of the law ministry at the ministry’s conference room in the secretariat.
The law minister said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has formed the legislative and parliamentary affairs division realising its necessity for the rule of law.
The legislative and parliamentary affairs division should have been formed when the works for framing the constitution started, Anisul Huq said.
“No law can go outside the purview of the division,” the law minister said.
Underscoring the need for provision of higher training to legislative and parliamentary affairs division officials abroad, the law minister said his ministry would take initiatives in this regard.
Senior secretary of legislative and parliamentary affairs division Mohammad Shahidul Haque conducted the meeting where other relevant high officials were present.
