Sinha murder case: Rab verifying info from Pradeep

Our Correspondent, Cox’s Bazar

Rab Additional Director General Col Tofail Mostafa Sarwar yesterday told media they were analysing the information given by the accused in the Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan murder case.

He, however, did not disclose which sort of information they got "for the sake of investigation".

Col Tofail said they interrogated the three accused -- former officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station Pradeep Kumar das, in-charge of Baharchhara Police Investigation Centre Inspector Liaqat Ali and Sub-Inspector Nandadulal Raxit -- during the seven day remand.

"But we need to interrogate them further for fair investigation," he said.

Later in the afternoon, Rab produced the seven suspended police officials arrested in the Sinha murder case before a Cox's Bazar court with a remand prayer of seven days.

After the hearing, the court granted four days of remand. Judge Tamanna Farah passed the order.

The four other arrestees of the case are Assistant sub-inspector Liton Miah, constables Safaul Karim, Kamal Hossain and Abdullah Al Mamun.

Addressing reporters at the court premises, Rab investigating officer Khairul Islam said they would take Pradeep, Liaqat and Rakshit into custody for interrogation yesterday.

Four other accused of the case would be sent to jail and they would be interrogated later, he said.
