Shipra Debnath today said she will file a case under the Digital Security Act against those who had been sharing her photos on Facebook.

Shipra, a student of Stamford University who is witness to the murder of Maj (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan, made the declaration to Jamuna Television.

"I promise to take appropriate action under the Digital Security Act against those who have made my personal life unbearable…," she added.

"After Major Sinha's assassination, policemen came to our cottage and took away our two monitors, laptops, desktops, cameras, lens, three hard drives and our phones," she said, adding, "There is no mention of any of them in the seizure list. I don't know how to get those back.

"Some of the officers have stolen various pictures from our personal profiles and devices, and shared those on Facebook and different social media platforms. Fake Facebook and Instagram IDs have been opened in my name," she said.

A Supreme Court lawyer yesterday filed a writ petition with the High Court, challenging two police officers' actions of posting personal photographs of Shipra Debnath along with provocative comments on Facebook.

The writ petition was based on a report published in The Daily Star on August 16 under the headline "Cyberbullying now adds to her trauma".
