Shibir man held in arson case

Police arrested a Shibir activist from a bus at Boro Dargah area on Rangpur-Dhaka highway under Pirganj upazila of the district yesterday morning.The arrestee is Humayun Kabir Sumon, 32, of son of Momdel Hossain of Chithli-Dakkhinpara area under Mithapukur upazila of the district. Police said Sumon is a charge-sheeted accused in a case for arson attack on a passenger bus that killed six people in Jaygirhat area under the upazila on January 14 this year. Md Humayun Kabir, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mithapukur Police Station, told this correspondent that law enforcers, acting on a tip-off, intercepted a Kushita-bound passenger bus from Rangpur at Boro Dargah area around 10:00am and arrested Sumon.
