Schoolgirl raped in Laxmipur

A schoolgirl was raped allegedly by a local Jubo league leader in Laxmipur district on Saturday.

The accused is Jamal Uddin, joint convener of Charshahi union unit of Jubo League, said Ganesh Chandra Shil, sub-inspector of Daserhat police outpost.

Jamal called the girl to his rented house of Daserhat area when she was going to her home from a friend's house around 8:00pm. He then raped her.

The girl was later admitted to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital

Jamal went into hiding soon after the incident. The victim's brother filed a case in this connection, said police.

Police are raiding different areas to arrest the accused, said the SI.
