Schoolgirl raped

A schoolgirl was raped allegedly by her brother-in-law in Khalergul area under Barolekha upazila of the district on Wednesday afternoon.

Police arrested Zillur Rahman, 33, son of Moshiur Rahman of the area, in this connection.

Locals said Zillur took the 10-year-old to an abandoned house in the area and raped her.

Hearing screams, local people rushed to the spot, rescued the fourth grader and sent her to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital, said Md Moniruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Barolekha Police Station.
