SC won’t backtrack on playing due role: CJ
The Supreme Court have always played its due role during moments of crisis in the country and will not backtrack in future, Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha said today.
The chief justice came up with the comment while inaugurating a voluntary blood donation programme at the SC auditorium premises on the occasion of the National Mourning Day.
"A drama took place in constituting bench of the High Court for hearing the Bangabandhu murder case and its death reference," he said.
An indemnity ordinance was issued for blocking the trial proceedings of the case but the apex court heard and delivered verdict, the CJ added.
"The SC also delivered in the killing case of four national leaders," he added.
The judges, lawyers and officials of the SC and the HC attended the programme.
