Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Moniruzzaman recorded the statements of Saiful Islam (18) and Pappu Saha (19) under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) after Investigation Officer Abdur Rashid, inspector (operation) of Ashulia Police Station, produced the duo at his chamber.

On the other hand, the same court granted three-day remand for three other accused -- Antar (19), Jotirmoy Saha (20) and Milon (21) -- after the IO produced them before the court seeking 7-day remand for each, court sources said.

IO Abdur Rashid told our Savar correspondent that Saiful and Pappu gave confessional statement before the court. Besides, the same court granted 3-day remand for three other accused -- Antar, Jotirmoy and Milon.

According to the statement of the case, the 23-year-old housewife, a residence of Dhaka's Mirpur area, got introduced to Saiful and Antar one and a half months back. The duo talked to the victim several times over phone.

On September 23, Saiful and Antar called the victim to meet with them at Ashulia's Rastampur area, saying that they will lend her some money for her house rent. After she went to Ashulia from Mirpur on September 23, Saiful and Antar gave her Tk 1,000. But later, they forcibly took her to an abandoned place where they along with seven others raped her, as per the case statement.

After she returned home, the accused started threatening her over the phone and said they will inform the matter to her husband if she doesn't meet them again. Scared, the woman went to Ashulia again on September 28 and was raped again by the same people and three others.

As they continued to blackmail her, the survivor revealed the incidents to her husband, who later went to the police for help on Thursday night, it said.

Later, police conducted drives and arrested the accused, police said.
