Rohingya couple, son arrested

Member of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained a Rohingya couple and their minor son from near the border in Birampur upazila yesterday.

The arrestees are Mojibar Rahman, 27, his wife Sadekun Nahar, 23, and their son Rahmat Hossain, 5.

Seeing the couple and their son moving suspiciously in the area in the morning, people of Deshma village informed the matter to Maksuda Begum, a ward member under Binail union.

Being informed, Maksuda went to area and after failing to know from where they came from she informed the matter to BGB, who detained them.

Lt Col Sharif Ullah Abed, commanding officer (CO) of BGB 29 Battalion in Dinajpur, said during primary interrogation, the arrestees said they fled from a Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar.
